Presentation Report
This presentation mainly focuses on the case of shamans from two subgroups: the Barga, belonging to the Mongolian ethnic group, and the Solon Evenki, belonging to the Tungusic ethnic group. Both subgroups share the same birthplace, the forests along the Lake Baikal, have had intermarriage relations since ancient times, and migrated to the Hulunbuir region around the same period. The presenter reported on how these two different ethnic subgroups sometimes jointly worship sacred sites, their shamans accept disciples from each other, and religious practices such as divination and disease treatment are conducted across ethnic boundaries.
Following the presentation, various questions and valuable comments were raised. It was suggested that relying solely on shamanic investigations might be insufficient, and further research involving the perspectives of the clients should be conducted to complete this study.
